Business Challenges
The main reason for developing such a system was the necessity to have the software for proper functioning of a paging company. At a later time system functionality was extended in order to provide wider variety of services for the company's clients and, in the final analysis, for successful competition on the market of personal radio-calling. As a result the three-level Client-Server system was developed. It included billing subsystem, technical support subsystem, basic service of message sending subsystem, subsystem of message automatic roaming. We also developed the Internet-gate for transmitting paging messages from such user's applications as E-mail, ICQ, Web-browser.
Due to forthcoming of new technologies we implemented the voice mail subsystem using the voice modem. We developed the SMS-gate allowing sending and receiving SMS-messages for operators of basic service of message sending and company clients.
All the above-mentioned resulted in the successful work of this paging company in the market.
Summary
The result of our work was development of powerful and reliable paging system which covered its costs many times. Currently this system provides uninterrupted work on receiving and transmitting paging messages in several companies of Rostov-na-Donu city. Such as "Dilink" Ltd. with branches in Taganrog, Volgodonsk and Sallsk and "Rostov-na-Donu Telegraph " (in Rostov and Rostov region).
Used Languages and Technologies
The system was developed to operate under Win95/98/NT 4.0 operating systems. All the basis modules were developed using C++, Pervasive SQL was used as a data storage. The transferring modules used WinSock on the TCP/IP protocol basis. This allows users to operate this system all over the world.
